Unidimensional Simulation of the Spatial Attribute ‘Ensemble Depth’ for Training Purposes – Part 2: Creation and Validation of Reference Stimuli

چکیده
In the context of devising a spatial ear-training system, a study into the perceptual construct ‘ensemble depth’ was executed. Based on the findings of a pilot study into the auditory effects of early reflection (ER) pattern characteristics, exemplary stimuli were created. Changes were highly controlled to allow unidimensional variation of the intended quality. To measure the psychological structure of the stimuli and hence to evaluate the success of the simulation, Multidimensional Scaling (MDS) techniques were employed. Supplementary qualitative data were collected to assist with the analyses of the perceptual (MDS) spaces. Results show (1) that syllabicity of source material (rather than ER design) is crucial to depth hearing and (2) that unidimensionality was achieved, thus suggesting the stimuli to be suitable for training purposes. 1 The term ‘syllabicity’ is used to denote a discontinuous or erratic amplitude envelope characteristic.

Unidimensional simulation of the spatial attribute ‘ensemble width’ for training purposes
This paper reports recent progress towards the development of a spatial ear trainer. A study into the perceptual construct of ‘ensemble width’ was conducted. With the help of a novel surround panner, exemplary stimuli were created. Changes were highly controlled to enable unidimensional variation of the intended qualitative effect. To assess the success of the simulation, a subjective experimen...
متن کاملRole of Heuristic Methods with variable Lengths In ANFIS Networks Optimum Design and Training
ANFIS systems have been much considered due to their acceptable performance in terms of creation of fuzzy classifier and training. One main challenge in designing an ANFIS system is to achieve an efficient method with high accuracy and appropriate interpreting capability. Undoubtedly, type and location of membership functions and the way an ANFIS network is trained are of considerable effect on...
متن کاملEnsemble strategies to build neural network to facilitate decision making
There are three major strategies to form neural network ensembles. The simplest one is the Cross Validation strategy in which all members are trained with the same training data. Bagging and boosting strategies pro-duce perturbed sample from training data. This paper provides an ideal model based on two important factors: activation function and number of neurons in the hidden layer and based u...
متن کاملEffects of Digital Elevation Models (DEM) Spatial Resolution on Hydrological Simulation
Digital Elevation Model is one of the most important data for watershed modeling whit hydrological models that it has a significant impact on hydrological processes simulation. Several studies by the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) as useful Tool have indicated that the simulation results of this model is very sensitive to the quality of topographic data. The aim of this study is evaluati...
متن کاملFacies Modeling of Heterogeneous Carbonates Reservoirs by Multiple Point Geostatistics
Facies modeling is an essential part of reservoir characterization. The connectivity of facies model is very critical for the dynamic modeling of reservoirs. Carbonate reservoirs are so heterogeneous that variogram-based methods like sequential indicator simulation are not very useful for facies modeling. In this paper, multiple point geostatistics (MPS) is used for facies modeling in one of th...
